No more Jamie at Sainsbury’s

I read the other day that Jamie Oliver will no longer be working with Sainsbury’s, no longer will his cheeky chappy smile grace our TV screens during the adverts, well no longer on Sainsbury’s adverts anyway! I have to say I will miss him although some people may disagree, numerous people rejoiced when the news broke! I am a Jamie Oliver fan, like many of our friends, it’s probably our age that attributes to liking him, and my mother isn’t a fan!

On the plus side though television chef Lorraine Pascale is going to replace Jamie, (yey) I’m a big fan of the catwalk model turned chef and loved watching her cookery programme and trying out her recipes. So I will be excited to see the new adds when they arrive and hopefully food ranges too!

US TV hit Bachelor come to UK featuring Gavin Henson

I had a little chuckle yesterday at the news that Gavin Henson, the Welsh rugby star who was engaged to Charlotte Church is to feature as the bachelor in the UK version of the US hit series The Bachelor. It seems that since his split from Charlotte, Gavin hasn’t had much luck on the dating scene; maybe he should have tried his hand at online dating first before jumping into a TV programme. But maybe he couldn’t resist the chance to be pursued by 25 young women.

According to Channel % viewers should “expect flirting, bitching and heartfelt emotion from the programme as the girls compete for Gavin’s love. Aw just how a romance should start, hmmm…. I think not!

Speaking about the programme Gavin said: “I’m so excited to have been cast as The Bachelor as I really feel the time is right for me to find a girl to hopefully spend the rest of my life with. I’ve always been dedicated to my rugby and continue to train hard but as the season draws to an end I can focus on meeting the right girl. It can be hard in my situation to meet women and The Bachelor will give me the unique opportunity to go on some incredible dates and spend quality time getting to know amazing women from all over the UK.”

I’m sure Gavin will have lots of fun taking part on this TV show, however if I was him I wouldn’t be too hopeful on finding the woman he will spend the rest of his life with on the show, not judging by the outcomes of the US version. If it doesn’t work out maybe Gavin could try dating from Parship to find his future partner!

Reality TV Competitions

This weekend we have the final of Britain’s Got Talent which has, in the past week attracted a lot of negative press in regards to the young finalist Ronan Parke who was alleged to have been picking prior to the competition to win. However that was not confirmed and only really an internet rumour, however it may well bump up viewing figures.

Anyway I’m only mentioning BGT because there seems to be such a focus on these types of programming. Now BGT has finished we will have X Factor up again, although it doesn’t seem five minutes since this programme was last on it has actually been six months. This is because since it finished at Christmas, some parts of the Show have been constantly in the press, from the finalists, winner to the presenters. None more so than ‘England’s Sweetheart’ Cheryl Cole, who was, then wasn’t then was a judge on the American X Factor before she was unceremoniously sacked the other week.

Unfortunately  there are no judge vacancies at ITV at the moment, but there are grumblings that the BBC have room for her on their new reality TV singing contest show the Voice (American Version has big names like Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton) that can fit in wee Cheryl. I can’t believe however that we have enough singers to fill these programmes, although we seem to have a continuous supply of talentless wannabe’s.

Anyway grumble over, I now know to stay clear of ITV and BBC whilst these shows are on this summer!
